We’re finally in! Yes, we made that giant leap into our new building at 438 East Street in New Haven after waiting two years. Last month, we received approval to move in and then celebrated with a dedication service! Many thanks to Pete and Kate Hvizdak for organizing the service. We were blessed to have Pastor Roger Blackmore from Genesis Church on Long Island and Pastor Tom Buchan as our speakers for that special evening. We are grateful to ALL of you that made it possible through your prayers, service and giving. Most of all, we are thankful for our Faithful God and His amazing provision!
Since our last newsletter, The 180 Center was made handicap accessible with a donated cement incline, and we were able to redo the cement flooring in the rear of the building. We have a room to serve coffee, breakfast, and lunch free to the public daily; in addition, we have a large space to disciple during the week and gather as a church on Sundays. We have two handicap accessible restrooms, a new large office for three of us, and another office for more private meetings. We are truly blessed!
We received zoning approval for a sixteen bed men’s shelter, so there is still so much work to be done! Still, we take one day at a time and put our trust in God. We have filed for the permit to start Phase Two, ordered three commercial exit doors, three commercial replacement windows, and two by fours for framing. Best of all, Genesis Church on Long Island will be sending a team in August to help us with the work! Isn’t God good?
God is at work in The 180 Discipleship Training Program. It is an eighteen month residential program and is free to men who have no income. The men in the program are doing well and growing in God. Our greatest need right now is prayer. Our desire is to reach men who are desperate for help and point them to Jesus. Pray for the Lord to bless our teachers, leaders, and all who serve at The 180 Center with His provision to do this.
Our ultimate goal is to reconnect individuals to God, their families, and a supportive community.
