Let Hope Arise!

“May the God of HOPE fill you with all joy and peace as you trust in Him, so that you may overflow with HOPE by the power of the Holy Spirit.”
Romans 15:13

The 180 Center is approaching the new year ahead with joy and peace as we trust in Him! With two graduations last month and four new disciples enrolled in The 180 Discipleship Program, we are truly overflowing with hope. Nate Brutcher and Mike Grillo graduated November 15th and it was a special celebration. After words of encouragement by Pastors Tom Buchan and Mike Caroleo, the two new graduates received a certificate of completion for the eighteen month program and prayer from a group of former graduates.

After graduation, Nate enrolled in New Haven’s MATCH program (Manufacturing and Technical Community Hub). This past month he received training and earned his OSHA10 certification and a forklift license; he recently applied for employment. Pray that God will open doors for Nate both economically and spiritually, and bless him with a steady income.

Mike Grillo felt the Lord wanted him to continue serving with The 180 Center and is now on staff with The 180 Warming Center, serving in an overnight position. It’s hard to believe that, at one time, he was one of the people experiencing homelessness and sleeping at the warming center! Pray that God will bless Mike G. with His love, grace, and opportunities to share his story as he serves at night.

This fall we also experienced another successful Community Care Day because of the helping hands from many church teams and individual volunteers. Kate Hvizdak, The 180 Center coordinator for clothing donations, said, “We received an abundance of high quality clothing for the attendees to choose from, and they were blessed!” Over 200 people in the New Haven community came to get clothes, hygiene kits, and free haircuts. In addition, volunteers barbecued hot dogs and served delicious home-cooked dishes. Christian Derks, a graduate of The 180 Center Discipleship Program, played his guitar and led worship while men from Gideons International passed out Bibles and prayed. Many received prayer that day at our Prayer Table and we all saw hope arise. May all who served that day receive a great blessing for all they did in His Name!

Our hope overflows for what God will do next! Remember how we asked you to pray for the completion of Phase Two and the installation of a drainage box in the parking lot? We want to thank you so much for PRAYING!!

We are now able to use our whole building! The renovation of the building is complete, with the exception of the installation of the drainage box. However, we received a one year extension from the city officials to complete it! The city has proposed several options for the use of the back room of our building. One of the possibilities is using the back room as another city warming center in January. Please pray for us as we pray and seek God’s direction and His plan. We will be praying for all who pray, give, and serve at The 180 Center to have a blessed Christmas and a wonderful New Year!♥️

“I wait for the Lord, my whole being waits, and in His Word I put my hope.”
Psalm 130:5

Let hope arise this coming year! The Bible says in Hebrews 6:19, “This hope we have as an anchor of the soul, both sure and steadfast…” This “hope” is not wishful thinking or a foolish desire; it is an anchor that secures you to His promise. Hebrews 11:1 says, “Faith is the confidence that what we hope for will actually happen; it gives us assurance about things we cannot see.” The heavy anchor that holds a ship can’t be seen when it is firmly planted in the deep sea floor; and yet it is what holds the ship in place. Hope is our anchor and holds our faith securely in place, even when we cannot see. No one knows what is ahead for us in 2026, but our hope is in the One who holds the coming year securely in His hands. May you confidently join us in saying, “Let Hope Arise!” Merry Christmas and Happy New Year!🎄

Blessed is the man who trusts in the Lord, and whose hope is in the Lord.
Jeremiah 17:7
