September 2020 Newsletter & Updates

Hello Family & Friends,

We are praying and hoping that you are all doing well. There is still so much going on in the world around us. It is sobering, but it serves as a great reminder to us about what is really important in this life we live! Our relationship with Jesus is the greatest treasure we have here on this earth and beyond!

The 180 Center has continued to serve all summer as a Discipleship Training Center during the week. We also have outdoor church on Sunday, prayer meetings on Monday night and Wednesday we prayer walk the city of New Haven. On Friday evenings, we have a 12 step meeting. In addition, we held a baptism service and one graduation this summer. In March, we closed our center to the public for the safety of our residents, but we continued to serve a free outside breakfast and lunch to those in need. So we have been busy!

In August, we reopened our doors to the public and follow safety guidelines. It has been quiet, as the men’s shelter has not reopened and the homeless are still provided with temporary housing. However, we have another graduation coming up in September!

I shared in our last letter that we have received approval to move forward with the building renovation; we have been in the process of minor work and also getting estimates for the major work. However, we had a complication with our property tax exemption that seems to be the result of a city error, and we can’t pull a permit until the problem is resolved. With the city still meeting virtually, it doesn’t look like our problem will be resolved until October. In the meantime, we are paying towards our balance with the architect and comparing estimates for the best possible prices.

Please keep us in prayer for patience, favor with the city, and also pray about giving to meet the financial challenges ahead of us. We are so grateful for all of you. Your prayers have been felt and we are praising God that not one individual connected to The 180 Center has been diagnosed with coronavirus! Thank you also for your faithful and generous giving. We can’t wait to start the work on the new building!!!

Things we still need to complete in Phase One for us to be able to move into the new building:

  • Plumbing fixtures and new water lines installed
  • Need new Thermal pane entrances (as per code)
  • Make the existing bathroom handicap accessibleAdd one more bathroom
  • Add outside ramp to make handicap accessible
  • Add a kitchen
  • More insulation for ceilings ( as per energy-saving code)Studding and insulating walls (as per energy-saving code

Here are four ways you can help us:

  1. Share about The 180 Center on social media! We are on Facebook & Twitter
  2. PRAY that ALL these needs get met so we can serve our city in a more effective way. Your prayers are powerful!!
  3. GIVE financially a tax-deductible donation. 100% of your giving will go directly to the needs listed above.
  4. SERVE as a skilled laborer with the renovations.

Will you stand with us as we believe God hears our cries and will faithfully provide ALL that is needed? We need your prayers and appreciate your generosity! No amount is too small. Thank you!
